Why St. Jude?

As members of Delta Delta Delta, we are beyond blessed to be partnered with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and support the fight against childhood cancer. As Tri Deltas, we can’t help but develop a certain special kind of love and passion for St. Jude and what it stands for. St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for the treatment they receive. St. Jude is different than other hospitals in that its staff goes out of their way to make patients forget why they are there. In fact, children have even compared the hospital to Disney Land. Some of our members have had life-changing experiences while getting to visit St. Jude through Tri Delta and the stories they have shared with our chapter are part of the reason we love what we do. Danny Thomas, founder of St. Jude, believed that no child should ever be turned away because of a family’s inability to pay for treatment. Because of this, St. Jude is a place of overwhelming love, joy, and hope where families don’t have to stress over financial burdens and can instead focus on the care of their little ones.  That alone, makes us extremely proud to help fulfill Thomas’ vision.

Our Mission:

Numerous goals have been set for Tri Delta chapters across the country. In 2005, a year earlier than expected, Tri Delta raised $1 million that endowed the hospital Teen Room. In 2006, Tri Delta took on a second commitment to raise $10 Million in 10 years to name the Patient Care Floor in the Chili’s Care Center. In just four years, by May 2010, Tri Delta met the $10 million fundraisiTri Delta Placeng goal. In July 2010, Tri Delta announced it would take on a new, more aggressive challenge to raise $15 Million in 5 years to name the Specialty Clinic located in the Patient Care Center at the hospital. Not only did we achieve this goal, but also surpassed it and raised $15 Million in only 3.5 Years! As of 2014, Tri Delta has pledged to raise $60 in 10 years to fund Tri Delta place, an on-campus short-term housing facility at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This is the largest single commitment made by a St. Jude partner and we are so excited to see what our future with St. Jude has in store!

What this means to us:

It is incredibly humbling to be a part of an organization that works so passionately for something so much bigger than ourselves. Being a Tri Delta gives us all such a unique opportunity to directly connect with the families at the hospital and knowing that we have the privilege of making a difference in the lives of so many children truly is an indescribable feeling. As members of Tri Delta, we will always hold St Jude Children’s Research Hospital close to our hearts and we continue to fall in love with the cause more and more every day.
